I delivered a baby on the roadside back in 1993. The woman in a Volkswagen bug had pulled off the road and was on the edge of the church offices' lawn. She
had crossed the west bound lane to our lawn area and was facing the oncoming traffic. When I saw her she was trying go get out of the car.
I noted that she was heavy with child and heard her yelling for help. I was the only one that could hear her and help her. Immediately I called 911, gave the
the address and phone number, and said, "No one will be here to answer the phone. I've got to run and deliver a baby!" lol
I ran out and delivered to deliver a baby. By the time I got there the woman had pulled all her clothes off. Her water had burst and I took over. As the baby
crowned she said "Pull it out!" I responded, "No! You push! Push! Push! I'd seen that on TV! lolrof
I delivered the baby long before the medics got there. I did attract a small crowd. I got the baby to breathing, laid the baby in the mother's arms, put a
bystander in charge, ran in the offices and got two new baby blankets (from the Baby Blanket Ministry we had), ran out and covered the woman and child. I
pulled off my shirt and began cleaning the baby's face and body. A woman from across the street came and brought a syringe to clean out the baby's
nose. The medics arrived.
Whew! Don't ask me to do that again!
